12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #12

Well folks, this is it...we've reached the final installment of 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style sponsored by Linda at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  It's been quite the ride hasn't it?  Soo soo many thanks to Linda for not only sponsoring the challenge, but for providing 12 wonderfully inspirational tags for us!

Linda's final tag had a stunning background of red & gold. which is what inspired my tag and since music is my thing, I wanted to tip my hat to all the wonderful carols out there too (see the sentiment on my tag).  I used Linda's technique to create the background of my tag, then added a snowflake cut with a Sizzix die, some burlap and sentiments.  I love the little jingle bells - I happened across those at my LSS last week and knew I'd find a use for them :)

Anyway, here's my final tag...thanks again Linda!  Many blessings to you all this Christmas!

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #11

Whew!  All caught up before the last tag comes out!  It's been a whirlwind for me since I found this awesome challenge so late in the series but as usual, Linda over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique has been a great inspiration!

So Tag 11 of the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style has the most stunning background!  Yea, yea I know I've been inspired my most of the backgrounds, but that's where the techniques I love are!  The background on this tag has  embossed resist, distress, and over-stamping.  Linda's tag was just beautiful so I couldn't resist (no pun intended).

Here's a close up of my wreath...
I created it by gluing about 5 punched pine branches to a rosette.  I love the soft, feathery look I got.  The gold leaves behind it are actually pieces from an old necklace.

One more tag to go!

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #10

Hey all, it's the weekend and I'm back with more tags for the 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by Linda at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!  Linda's tag 10 has a wonderful vintage feel to it and I was inspired by the ad image she used to create an ornament on her tag.  She also very kindly shared that image as a freebie on her site and that image is what inspired my tag.

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #9

Whoa I'm up to 9 already?  Sweet!  So when I looked at Linda's tag for this round of 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, I was immediately drawn to the painted "wood" background, the stars & the gorgeous fabric bow.   My version is a bit different but I love the country feel of the  wood, bow, and the bells I added.

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #8

One more tonight...I think this one is my fave so far.  This tag was inspired by the poinsettia on Linda's tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  That's kind of where the similarities end though :P  When I looked at Linda's tag, the first that struck me was the poinsettia at the bottom.  I went back and forth trying to decide what I wanted to do for this tag and how I wanted to use the flower.  I sat looking at my cupboard for a bit and then spotted my melting pot.  It's been gathering dust for several months now so I figured it was time to pull it out!

I cut recycled plastic packaging (the sheets that cling mount stamps come on) using my McGill Paper Blossoms Lily punch, then dipped the petals in UTEE in the melting pot and set them on my craft sheet to harden.  I toyed with the idea of using alcohol inks to color the petals but threw that idea out the window when I realized that left plain it would look rather like it was made of ice.  The other cool thing that happened was I got all these perfect little "dewdrops" of UTEE as I was working so I thought "why not use those too?!"

I used the marbleing technique for the background tag with Brushed Pewter, Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire & Snow Cap Distress Stain and then inked the edges with Chipped Sapphire DI as well.  The stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs Luke 2:11 set, stamped in Onyx Black Versifine Ink.  A few gems in the center of the flower and some ribbon from my stash and here is the end result!

A close up of the poinsettia...

See you tomorrow with more tags! :)

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #4

The next tag in the series for 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I liked Linda's country - style tag so much for this round I decided to CASE it!

It's not exactly identical to hers, I didn't have all the same supplies, but it's really close :)  The dp on this one is from Graphic 45 & Tim Holtz Idea-ology.  I made the pinecone & pine branches using a couple of McGill Paper Blossoms punches.  The stamps are all Stampers Anonymous for Tim Holtz.

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #3

Back again with tag #3 for the 12 Tags of Christmas over at The Funkie Junkie!  This challenge is sponsored by Linda from The Funkie Junkie Boutique :)

This time Linda's tag used the marbled stain background a-la Tim Holtz again - this time with blue & pewter.  I loved how the background turned out so I wanted to keep the tag simple so I left some space open but I also really liked her bit of wire fencing, so I created my own piece using crack repair fabric, silver paint and plenty of Ranger's Dry Glitter.

The poinsettia's (from Stamper's Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection - Christmas Time) were stamped using a watercolor technique - I colored the stamp itself with distress markers, misted the stamp with water and stamped onto paper.  I love the look I get with this technique!  Once dry, I fussy cut the image and coated it with distress paint in clear rock candy.

The lace bow is a vintage scrap from my stash.  The Merry Christmas stamp along the side is also from the Christmas Time set from Stamper's Anonymous.

Blessings,

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #1

For the past couple of years I have played along with Tim Holtz for his 12 Tags of Christmas.  This year Tim decided to do a tag each month rather than 12 at Christmas.  Don't get me wrong - it's been a blast doing one a month but I knew when December arrived I'd be missing the Christmas tags.  So imagine my excitement when I discovered that Linda from the Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring her own 12 Tags of Christmas!

The challenges started in September and run through December 17th, so I have a bit of catching up to do!  Thanks for taking a peek today and I hope you come along for the ride through 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style!

Tag #1 featured an amazing marbled effect using Ranger Distress Stains, and gorgeous embossing & sparkle!  Linda's background inspired my tag.  I've used Metallic Bronze, Snow Cap and Walnut Stain Distress Stains to create a marbled look on the tag a-la Tim Holtz A Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 page 46.  I stamped the flourish from Stampers Anonymous Shabby French set in Walnut Stain and then sprinkled with prisma embossing powder.  I used my eclips machine to cut out the sentiment, the deer is a Alterations Mini die and the pine branches are McGill Paper Blossoms punch Decorative Pine.

I'll be back soon with tag #2!
