12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style #8

One more tonight...I think this one is my fave so far.  This tag was inspired by the poinsettia on Linda's tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  That's kind of where the similarities end though :P  When I looked at Linda's tag, the first that struck me was the poinsettia at the bottom.  I went back and forth trying to decide what I wanted to do for this tag and how I wanted to use the flower.  I sat looking at my cupboard for a bit and then spotted my melting pot.  It's been gathering dust for several months now so I figured it was time to pull it out!

I cut recycled plastic packaging (the sheets that cling mount stamps come on) using my McGill Paper Blossoms Lily punch, then dipped the petals in UTEE in the melting pot and set them on my craft sheet to harden.  I toyed with the idea of using alcohol inks to color the petals but threw that idea out the window when I realized that left plain it would look rather like it was made of ice.  The other cool thing that happened was I got all these perfect little "dewdrops" of UTEE as I was working so I thought "why not use those too?!"

I used the marbleing technique for the background tag with Brushed Pewter, Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire & Snow Cap Distress Stain and then inked the edges with Chipped Sapphire DI as well.  The stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs Luke 2:11 set, stamped in Onyx Black Versifine Ink.  A few gems in the center of the flower and some ribbon from my stash and here is the end result!

A close up of the poinsettia...

See you tomorrow with more tags! :)

  2. Wow, that poinsettia is TOTALLY AWESOME!!! I absolutely love it. UTEE and left over acrylic packaging are some of my favorite craft supplies. And your extra dew drops are very cool too. Love the colors of marbling you did too. This is a really sensational piece, Cheryl. Thanks so much for sharing it with us at the 12 Tags challenge!

    Hugs,
    Linda
