Oh-Dark-Thirty and I cannot sleep!

I have to admit it, I am a night owl. Ask Cheryl! I have big eyes and "hoot" every now and again. (I promise, I'm not crazy. I just have a wacky sense of humor!)

I never really did introduce myself to the blog. Cheryl and I met while playing a game called GuildWars a couple years back and immediately became friends. Over time it developed into a very sincere friendship. She is my best friend and the sister I never had. She has seen me in good times and in bad.

I would do anything for her...and have!

My husband and I met back in 1998. He came up for a weekend visit from TX and never left.... We've now been married for almost 15 years. The last couple of years, he's been working as a contractor, so he travels a LOT. Most of the time, he's living in another state for work. It's been tough and lonely. He was transferred back to MN in April of this year, but his current assignment ended last week.

There was a scare that I was going to end up moving to Jersey City, NJ. But, after doing some sincere thinking and numbers crunching, hubby has decided that we cannot afford to do that. The Alabama job? I think that's gone to the wayside.Wont know until after the New Year.

In the meantime, he's decided to stay with his current employer since they have approximately three assignments that would like him.

In case you're wondering? He's a Documaker Developer, and he's good.

As for me, after having surgery last year, I lost my job. Long story short, I ended up having some issues after surgery because I tried to go back to work too soon. It's all good now, but I decided to stay unemployed for a while to get other things back under control. (I suffer from severe Migraines)

All that aside, earlier this year, I spent about a month with my sister in law before she passed away in March. She and I were pretty close because we have a mutual love for anything crafty. Sewing, Needle point, crochet, knitting (I couldn't do this to save my life), beading, jewelery design, and paper crafts. She's the one who initially introduced me to this side of the crafting isle and I love her for it. When she passed, I inherited many of her things, some of which are not here yet.

My brother and I joked that she was a hoarder, but thank God she only horded the good stuff! She had more crafting supplies in her house than an Archivers store! Honest truth!

Granted all of this is recent history, the rest isn't very pleasant. Essentially, I have no family except for Cheryl and her husband, and some of my Fun-In-Laws.

Tonight I was feeling a bit nostalgic. I am missing my grandmother very much this holiday season. She and I love the same colors, Blue and Silver. She used to have this couch that had navy blue flowers on it with bits of gold in it.

Cheryl recently gave me a pad of sparkly papers that had a page with dark blue flowers and gold trim. Just looking at it made me think about grandma. I ran out of ideas of what to make, despite being short on Christmas cards. I remembered Cheryl printing off this little box thingie for me. Thought, humm, and made the box below.

Please enjoy, and I expect to have more things to share with you in the future.
