A voice says, Cry out!
I answer, what shall I cry out?
All mankind is grass and all their glory like the flower of the
field. The grass withers, the flower
fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it. (So then the people are the
grass.) Though the grass withers and the
flower fades, the word of our God stands forever. ~Isaiah 40:6-8
There are six of them, each fashioned with an exquisiteness that would challenge the most artistic hand and imaginative mind. The color they share with admiring eyes is a restful and delightful pink. Their form resembles a heart with white extensions like well-designed spears extended from an opening in the underside. Thread-like hangers of green support each from a delicate green branch. Holding them to my desk lamp I discover how perfectly each has been fashioned, each done so excellently well that the Creator deemed it worth repeating.
Mom's bleeding hearts are blooming in my front flower bed. The plants, dug up from her home when she passed away and redistributed among us - her children - just as she wished. Mom went to her Eternal reward 3 years ago, and each spring when her bleeding hearts burst into bloom in my garden I am reminded of a God who does both big and small things and does them so beautifully. From God's wonderful hand comes a majestic mountain, a roaring sea, a thundering waterfall, a valley of green, a charming butterfly, a hopping bunny, a mighty lion or a quiet lamb. The bible of nature has so much to share and reveal of a God we call Father, a Creator who reveals His beauty in so many millions of ways.
We need to stop and smell the flowers! To take them in hand individually and to open our eyes and hearts to the message they all share so powerfully, of the One who fashioned them so beautifully and lovingly.
The great master artists - Michelangelo, Raphael, daVinci and others had a talent that makes one gaze in utter amazement. We need not travel to Rome and Florence to see great artistry, for we are surrounded by the magnificent originals of the master artist of them all - the Creator. Each of His works is original and unique in its own special way.
Do yourself a favor. Pick a flower! Just one - and allow it to speak to you of God.
