Simple Thanks

In keeping with my last post thanking those who served, are serving, and who died for our nation, here's a simple thank you card that I made using plain papers and the Brushless Watercolor technique from Tim Holtz's book Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2.  I can't tell you how much I love this book - the endless techniques, the great inspirational art, just my own personal "time with Tim"... if you don't have it, you need it!

So what did I use to make this card?  Well Bazzill Cardstock is always a must for me - I used pink and black here.  I almost always use Truly Yours card bases from my local Archivers - it's just easier than cutting and scoring my own (yep I'm THAT lazy some days).  The cream background and the small scalloped circle are watercolor paper - which I needed for the technique I used.

Brushless Watercolor technique can be found on page 49 of  the Compendium of Curiosities Vol 2 from Tim Holtz.  I used Ranger Distress Stain in Spun Sugar and Lettuce (you can get these at the CC2C sponsor this week - eclectic paperie) and this gorgeous Violet stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs.  Those colors gave me a gorgeous pale image - almost too pale, so I overstamped the watercolor technique with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink to make the image more visible.

Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles, a Sizzix edge embossing folder, a Stampendous Sentiment and some ribbon round out the products I used.

I'm entering this card in a few challenges:
Studio L3 - Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge 7
Our Daily Bread Designs - Shining Light Challenge #110
The Sweet Stop - Sketch Challenge #160
