Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas Day 2

Well here we are on day 2 of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas and as usual, Tim does not disappoint!  I love the details on this tag like the subtle text created by resist and the snow flurry effect given by splattering perfect pearls.

I did a few things differently than Tim:

  • I didn't have sticky back canvas for the deer, but I did have plain old canvas, so I glued a piece of canvas to some grunge paper to give it more stability and then used the die to cut out the deer.
  • I don't have the picket fence distress stain in my inventory yet, so I created a white-wash by watering down some Snowcap paint and water to get close to the same effect.
  • The most painstaking part of the process was creating the wreath for around the deer's neck - Tim used a small piece of pine stem and I don't have anything like that so I punched out 5 pieces of pine using the McGill Designer Pine punch, cut them into small branches and glued them to a piece of green twine using glossy accents.  It took quite a while to make, but I like the end result and that's what's important, right?
Ok so here's my end result!
