Bible Verse Thursday Challenge 06 ~ Mary's Song

Good morning and welcome to another installment of Bible Verse Thursday sponsored by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I hope you are inspired by the Word of God today!  This week we celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception at church, so I wanted to honor the mother of our Lord with this challenge.
Mary said
My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
~Luke 1:46-47

This verse from Luke is part of what is often called Mary’s Song or the Magnificat:

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has
regarded the low estate of his handmaiden
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
for He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His am, He has scattered the proud in the
imagination of their hearts,
He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the empty with good things, and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy, as He spoke
to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever."

Mary reveals something about praising and worshipping God in her song.  The spirit is that part of our soul that relates to God, once our spirit understands who God is, then our soul is able to magnify Him.  Jesus says John 4 that true worshippers worship God in spirit and in truth.  True worship of God flows through the spirit and is based on the foundation of the Word of God.

Some people think that they cannot worship God without “feeling something” but Mary’s song shows us that true worship of God focuses not on feelings but on what God has done for us, what He has given to us.  True worship does not depend on emotions, but on understanding the scriptures.

For Mary, worshipping God was the greatest and most exciting thing she could do. The truths and promises she learned about God from Scripture caused her to rejoice in her whole being. She worshipped God in spirit and in truth. She rejoiced in the God of her salvation. She magnified the Lord, and exalted His name.  How do you respond to the truths of God?

Your challenge this week is to use this scripture or another verse about worshipping God in spirit and in truth.  When uploading your project, please use keyword ODBDBVT06  and then head back to the Our Daily BreadDesigns Forum to share with us!  Here's a little something to get you started!
