Bible Verse Thursday 03 ~ Blessings

Welcome to another Bible Verse Thursday with Our Daily Bread Designs!

The Lord Bless you and keep you;
 The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
~Numbers 6:24-26

This verse is God’s instruction to Moses telling him how to have Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel.  While I was studying and reflecting on this scripture I came across an interesting story at Word-Sunday.

The Vulcan hand greeting was one of the more memorable images from the 1960's iconic television series, Star Trek. According to Leonard Nimoy who played the Vulcan “Mr. Spock,” the idea for the hand greeting came from memories of his youth as an Orthodox Jew. Once a year, the men of the congregation who were known as “Kohen” (i.e., descendants of Aaron) would place their prayer shawls over their heads, raise their hands in the way made famous by the Vulcan hand greeting, and repeat the Aaronic blessing from Numbers. Nimoy said the sight of the blessing left an overwhelming impression on him as a child.

What does the word ‘blessing’ mean to you?  How do you know that you have been blessed?

One of my very favorite songs is “Blessings” by Laura Story.
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way to much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near...

Blessings are all around us, even in our hardship, there is blessing from God.  This week before Thanksgiving, let us think about the many blessings we receive from our heavenly Father – even ones we don’t really recognize as blessings.

Your challenge this week is to create a project using this scripture or another verse of blessing.  When uploading your project, please use keyword ODBDBVT03 and then stop by Our Daily Bread Designs Forum to share your creation with us!

Here's a little something to get the creative juices flowing!
